Combat History Overview
The Japanese American World War II story touched every part of the world. In Europe, the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team fought in Italy, France, and Germany. In the Pacific, Nisei in the Military Intelligence Service fought wherever there was a battle. In the China-Burma-India Theater, they fought behind enemy lines in intense jungle warfare. Meanwhile, other Japanese Americans were fighting a different type of battle against American prejudice on the home front. Women also served in the military. And countless non-Japanese Americans stood up to defend those being mistreated.
