War Relocation Authority (WRA) |
A federal agency created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9102 in March 1942, to “provide for the removal from designated areas of persons whose removal is necessary in the interests of national security,” namely Japanese immigrants and Americans of Japanese descent. The WRA was responsible for the incarceration centers that housed the 110,000 people of Japanese ancestry who were forcibly removed from their homes along the West Coast. |
